Greetings

In these printed words, may you feel the Warmth of a hearty handshake and a
gladdened smile in bidding you welcome to Meridian lodge No. 691 of Islip.
The grand lodge of the state of New York after declaring its independence
from the Grand lodge of England was in existence for eighty-eight years when a
small group of masons residing in Islip agreed that a Masonic lodge should be
formed in Islip. They envisioned a great sphere of Masonic influence and
goodwill, spreading its beneficial teachings. Appropriately they
called it Meridian.
That was in 1869. Our country was struggling with the aftermath of
the great war between the states. Unification and brotherhood was in great
need.
For over 130 years the Islip Meridian Lodge of F & A Masons
have practice the ageless tradition of Brotherhood and Charity. It is to the
inspiration of those honored brothers, that we dedicate this web site with love and
gratitude.
Masons are committed to making
life long friendships with brother masons. All Masons share the
Masonic belief in the brotherhood of man and that no man stands as tall,
as when he stoops to help a child.
Masons come from all walks of life. We
are doctors and dentists, movie stars, plumbers and mechanics. We're husbands
and fathers, corporate executives, the fellow who lives next door or works in
the office down the hall.
Freemasonry, or Masonry, is the oldest
and largest fraternal organization in the world, a universal society of friends
who seek to become better men through their association with
each other and
their families. It is a 600-year-old fraternity with a 3,000-year tradition, the
prototype of most modern fraternal societies and service organizations.
